Excellent long term storage.
Over the years, I’ve purchased several different types of display cases for my slab collection, including the latest Lighthouse Case, a small, $60., 6-tray, lightweight, feaux leather Case, beautiful in appearance, but with utterly cheap-looking, poorly made trays. So, I decided to try this ‘Grande’ Case. Appearance? Gorgeous. Impressive, both outside and inside, a terrific way to show your collection, or parts of it, as and when you choose. Otherwise, your collection is safely, handsomely, and impressively stored on a shelf. I tried one 3-ring, 4-page, 36-Slab Album, and was so pleased, I bought two more. They’re full, so I’m about to buy one or two more, BUT ... WARNING:The 4 ‘snaps’ which cause the two sides of the plastic page into which one places 9 Slabs to hold together quickly wear out, as do the corners of the page itself. For example, if you’ve put Slabs into a 4-page Album in chronological, earliest date order, and you acquire a new slab which, because of its date, must be placed in between 2 others, that page must be opened, i.e., pulled apart. When this process is done often enough, the ‘snaps’ and corners of the page wear out, so the page must be replaced. Oh, how about anticipating the insertion of future slabs by leaving open spaces? Nope: same problem. How about just inserting new slabs as you acquire them? Good idea for the predecessor pages, but the last page will have to be opened and closed until you’ve inserted another 9 slabs. The point: after a given page has been opened and closed 3-4 times, it’s likely worn out. That means you should have a supply of replacement pages readily available when an original album page wears out. There’s another ‘wear’ problem: the rings of these 3-ring (or 4-ring) binders must be opened by ‘yanking’ one of the rings apart. The best 3-ring binders have levers to press to open the rings, to avoid placing too much pressure on any given ring. These do not, so try to avoid repetitive opening of a binder, as the rings will eventually wear out. All in all, I still recommend the ‘Grande’ Album over other display Cases. I’m just buying some extra, back-up pages.
Good quality album. Fast shipping. Nice price. I would recommend this item.
Nice way to store and view my certified coins from both sides!
