"This type of dime, also known as a Barber dime, was designed by Charles E. Barber, who was chief engraver of the U.S. Mint. His initial, " B " appears on the truncation of the neck. He was also the designer of the twenty-five-cent and fifty-cent pieces. The mintmark appears on the reverse below the wreath. The coins were struck at the New Orleans mint ( O ) , the Denver mint ( D ) , the San Francisco mint ( S ) , and the Philadelphia mint ( No Mint Mark ). Only 24 pieces were coined at the San Francisco mint in 1984. These coins are seldom available and have not been included in this album." - Whitman Publishing
