Following the 50 State Quarters Program, the U.S. Mint announced another commemorative coin series, this one honoring national parks, monuments, and historic sites from each state in the Union, as well as the District off Columbia and the five U.S. territories ( Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Nothern Mariana Islands ). Like with the prior series, five new designs are to be released each year, with the series running through 2021." - Whitman Publishing
